Gallery Hop Returns Friday

By | September 26, 2019

It’s that time of year again — the leaves are changing, the days are shorter, the students are back and classes are in full swing. With all of that comes the first gallery hop of the school year, happening Friday.

The WKP Kennedy Gallery will hold an opening reception that night for our two fall exhibitions: the International Postcard Project and fonction, faillite. Both shows do their part in highlighting art from members of the community.

For the International Postcard Project we received mail art from all over the country, as well as worldwide, including Great Britain, Japan, Italy and the Netherlands, to name a few. Based on the theme of home and what it means to the artist, these postcards will give you the chance to experience a physical piece of another person’s home and culture.

Friday will mark the official opening of fonction, faillite, a two-person exhibition featuring works by Anyse Ducharme and Alexander Rondeau. Through the use of items such as tools, tarps, parts and keyboards, the artists create a conversation around the social and cultural histories within said supplies and how the things they build acquire value. A special thanks to Rona North Bay for supplying the paint for our fonction, faillite exhibition.

The event goes from 7-9:30 pm and will be catered by gd2go. For more information on other businesses participating, visit the Downtown Gallery Hop Facebook page. Make sure to come out and support local establishments.
