Capitol Centre Launches a New Look!

The new design sees the Betty Speers Theatre and WKP Kennedy Gallery featured together, prominently, as the two destinations within the overarching Capitol Centre organization. The revamp was completed by Dave Neighbor of 9 Lives Design, who is also a dedicated Corporate Underwriter for the Capitol Centre.

“We are thrilled to have had Dave bring our vision to life, and then take it to the next level! We have been working to reinforce that we are one organization and brand at the Capitol Centre, but with two distinct venues- the theatre and the gallery” says Kerri Morin, Marketing Manager at the Capitol Centre. “Patrons will notice that we’ve been making small changes here and there to make the link stronger, but the website is a crucial jumping-off point. Our goal is to make the Capitol Centre a welcoming, approachable environment while continuing the legacy as North Bay’s Home of the Arts. Now, patrons can easily navigate events happening in both venues, find out anything they need to know before coming to visit us, and how they can get involved with the Capitol Centre.”

The website launch is also the official debut of the new logo for the Betty Speers Theatre which has been artfully created to mimic the designs of the Capitol Centre and WKP Kennedy Gallery logos. “Those with a keen eye will notice the sun symbol emulates the follies that frame the stage in the theatre which are iconic when you think of the Capitol Centre,” says the artist behind the new logo, Katia Labranche, Multimedia & Marketing Assistant at the Capitol Centre.

WKP Kennedy Gallery Director and Curator, Jennifer Allison, says “we are thrilled with our new online presence. By merging the Betty Spears Theater and the WKP Kennedy gallery onto one website platform our patrons will be able to explore all events, exhibitions, and shows happening inside the Capitol Centre with ease. Many hours go into the research, planning, and execution of our gallery programming. Our exhibitions are carefully curated with our community in mind, so we are looking forward to using the new website as a tool to help spread awareness, increase foot traffic, and ultimately shine a bright light on the talented artists we showcase.” The former gallery website, www.kennedygallery.org will now automatically redirect to the joint Capitol Centre site.

“It has been a pleasure to watch this project come together and I’m looking forward to seeing more patrons enjoying the offerings from all aspects of the Capitol Centre now that they are displayed in one place,” says Capitol Centre Executive Director, Katina Connolly about the new website layout. “Being a multidisciplinary venue with something for everyone is engrained in the Capitol Centre’s identity. We are seeing local artists inspired by events that they’ve attended, and then those same artists being showcased in our spaces, so this is reinvigorating for our entire organization. This project wouldn’t have been possible without a grant from The Government of Canada’s Department of Canadian Heritage, specifically the Re-engaging Audiences Fund.”
