Looking Ahead
This post is somewhat difficult to write. Back in our pre-pandemic world, this week was supposed to be the launch of our 2020-2021 season. As much as most staff tend to have a sneak peak at what’s coming for the following year, I always love launch day and seeing the media, patrons and community at large get excited about upcoming shows. Although we are still awaiting official direction as to what the post-pandemic world of entertainment will look like, we know it will be very different than what we are used to. In any case, we are thankful to have the support and guidance of our government and health officials so that we can properly protect our patrons, volunteers, and staff as we prepare to move forward.
Currently, our plan is to share the 2020-2021 season with you in the fall. For the time being, we have postponed all shows and events through the end of August. However, the virtual calendar will continue to offer you a variety of free online entertainment to keep you regaled throughout the summer months – we’re so happy to see individuals excited about those upcoming events. And the upside, you can tune in from your backyard or front porch while enjoying the great weather outside (we’re all about focusing on the positives right now!).
I’d also like to encourage you to consider supporting the Capitol Centre with a donation if you are able at this time. Next week was supposed to be our Annual golf tournament, our second largest fundraiser of the year, which has been cancelled. And with the unknown status of future shows, we haven’t had many ticket sales since shutting down in March. Current operations have been adapted to engage with the community and support our local arts scene but your contributions will allow us to continue to provide those opportunities while preparing for the great unknown. We certainly understand that times are difficult for everyone so if a donation is not possible, we’d like to ask that you support us by liking, sharing, and spreading the social media love when it comes to our online events. This online visibility is incredibly valuable to both the Capitol Centre and also the local artists within our community. So check us out on Facebook, Instagram or Youtube and let the clicking begin!
