Live Shows Return!
It’s November already and Christmas is on our minds! These past several months have been difficult for everyone. We know that and we feel the need to find something positive to keep us going. And the arts can do that!
With that in mind, I’m excited to announce the return of live performances at the Capitol Centre with our new Holiday Series of shows. These performances will be limited to 50 people per show and each show will be performed straight through without an intermission. Tickets go on sale as of Monday November 2nd at 12 noon.
First off we have an intimate evening with Spoons! This performance with the Juno award winning Spoons, will be a night to remember as the Electric Duo of Gord Deppe and Sandy Horne perform all your favourites and new hits. Formed in 1980, Spoons would help define the sound of pop and New Wave in the 80's, with hits including "Nova Heart", "Romantic Traffic", "Old Emotions" and "Tell No Lies". So, join us on November 19th and 20th for an evening with the Spoons.
Next up, Canada’s Ballet Jorgen with their latest program entitled Creations in Isolation. This show includes contemporary creations, but will also feature highlights from Swan Lake, the Nutcracker and their new Anne of Green Gables program. Canada’ Ballet Jorgen takes the stage on November 27, 28 and 29th just in time for the holiday season!
Get into the spirit of the season with our next live performance show, Christmas with the Hogtown Brass on December 5th and 6th. Hogtown Brass is a dynamic Canadian ensemble of accomplished musicians from a variety of diverse artistic backgrounds. Known for their unique arrangements and new compositions, collaborations with vocalists and instrumentalists, along with an affinity for both standard and non-traditional performance spaces, Hogtown Brass is on a mission to reinvigorate the entire concert experience for their audiences. This performance will be a night full of holiday favourites that everyone in the family can enjoy!
Do you love blues music? Get ready for Johnny Max & Chuck Jackson’s ' Separated at Girth' live performance on December 12th and 13th. " Johnny Max is a double JUNO nominee and Chuck Jackson is a JUNO award winner & lead singer of Downchild - Canada's Blues Band. They are long-time friends and bring their fun-loving styles together backed by The Johnny Max Band, playing their favourites and some of their own award-winning songs, as well as a few holiday surprises.
Now, we do understand that you may have some questions around our COVID-19 Safety Protocols, so here’s what you should know. The building has been sanitized and there are safety measures in place… like mask-wearing, hand-sanitizing and physical distancing. You’ll notice new signs and plexiglass here and there. And when you buy tickets, the Capitol Centre’s new smart-ticket system automatically blocks off seats around you to ensure a safe bubble.
And that’s the point. Creating safe space for you to enjoy the arts!
We have also adjusted our refund policy, so that tickets can be refunded if you are not feeling well. To avoid gathering in any area, we have implemented a pre ordering service for our concession. This means you pre order your drinks and snacks then we will deliver it to your seat just before the performance starts.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming days. Stay safe and we will see you soon!
