Gallery gears up for Christmas Walk, Art Battle
It’s that time of year. The 31st-annual Old Fashioned Christmas Walk takes place Friday. North Bay’s downtown will be bustling with people as they attend the tree lighting, meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and experience the charming atmosphere of the city during the holidays.
The WKP Kennedy Gallery will be open late as part of the Christmas walk, where patrons can come check out our final exhibition of 2019: À la Croisée des Chemins by Bravo.
Having just opened officially a few weeks ago, the show consists of works by 22 artists with accompanying videos describing their artistic processes. The exhibition is on until Dec. 21.
In addition to the exhibition, the gallery will be collecting donations in exchange for the opportunity to take home promotional materials from past exhibitions, such as posters, programs, books and handouts.
In other great news, Art Battle at the WKP Kennedy Gallery will back for 2020.
On Jan. 30, artists have 20 minutes to paint in front of a live crowd, which will then vote for the battle winner. There are three 20-minute rounds to determine the Northern Ontario Art Battle champion.
Last year’s champion, Holly Macie, will be back to defend her title. She went on to win the regional competition and to Art Battle Canada Nationals to represent North Bay for the first time in the history of Art Battle.
Think you have what it takes to be a competitive painter? Or do you want to be in the crowd and have the power to vote? Keep an eye on our posts on Facebook and Instagram for details on how to apply to be an artist and how to buy tickets.
