Figgy Pudding

By Katina Connolly | December 20, 2021

We are winding down after a steady foray back into the world of live entertainment this fall. While we are all excited for some down time to spend with family and friends, we are very grateful to have been able to present a fall season in the Betty Speers Theatre and WKP Kennedy Gallery. A big thank you to our loyal patrons and sponsors for your continued support and a standing ovation to our volunteers and staff for investing so much time and energy towards a safe, positive arts experience. While there are changes up ahead, we are committed to bringing live entertainment opportunities to you in a safe manner.

On Friday December 17, 2021 the provincial government issued new restrictions to address the current spread of the Omicron variant in Ontario.

New directives affecting theatres, effective immediately, include:

  • live performances capped at 50% capacity
  • food and drink sales / consumption not allowed

The Capitol Centre has now capped ticket sales to 50% for all upcoming shows and will continue to monitor updates over the Christmas holidays and into the new year.  For shows whose ticket sales have already sold beyond the 50% capacity, we have now closed off further ticket sales pending further information and direction early in the new year.

The Capitol Centre will be closed from December 24th until January 3rd for our annual Christmas shutdown, but we will be monitoring all COVID news. We will keep you, our patrons, updated and informed to the best of our ability through www.capitolcentre.org, and our social media channels during the break. And for anyone who has purchased tickets to shows early in the New Year, we will directly contact you if your show becomes impacted once back on January 4, 2022.

We remain optimistic, which is why gift certificates and tickets to shows continue to be available for sale. The presentation of live shows and events at the Capitol Centre remains subject to all provincial and public health guidelines in place at the time of the scheduled performance.

Our priority is to keep our patrons, artists, and staff safe and that remains our commitment always. We wish you all a safe and peaceful holiday season with those closest to your heart.  Happy Holidays, enjoy your Figgy Pudding and other festive treats, and cross your fingers for a great 2022!
