2023 marks the 30th anniversary of one of Canada’s favourite bands, Great Big Sea. Founding member Séan McCann will be celebrating the legend and the legacy right across the country.

SÉAN MCCANN (the Shantyman) is a founder of the iconic Canadian folk rock band Great Big Sea and an Order of Canada recipient for his recovery advocacy. A survivor of sexual abuse and subsequent addiction, Séan has spent the last ten years touring North America as a solo concert performer and musical keynote speaker, singing and sharing his story with theatre audiences, front line workers, teachers, students, patients, inmates, veterans, and anyone who struggles with their mental health.

Séan believes that music is strong medicine and a song is never more powerful than when it is sung with a friend. 2023 marks the XXX anniversary of one of Canada’s favourite bands and Séan will be celebrating the legend with fans across the country. Armed only with his solo voice, bodhrán (celtic had drum), and guitar, the Shantyman will lead us all in a great big singalong as we sail back in time to the brighter bays of his native Newfoundland.
